OUR History
Begun as a second career, Tecstone Granite USA is today a first-tier provider of natural and finished granite to the American memorial industry.
Following the successful sale of his office machine business in 1987, John Landrum (Lanny) Kenimer became fascinated with the multi-colored, multi-textured crystalline rock called granite. Declining the opportunity of early retirement (he had just sold a successful office machine business), he invested all of his proceeds and then some so he could start brokering granite memorials and quarry blocks.
Tecstone’s role was to match customers in need with quality vendors, then arrange for the shipment of goods to pass directly between them. In 1994, the company’s business model shifted from brokering to wholesaling.
Further expansion followed in 1996, including the acquisition of property and a state-of-the-art delivery truck. In 1997 an 11,200 sq ft office/warehouse was erected and services expanded with the purchase of cutting and polishing equipment to provide quick-response granite repair services to the trade. After Lanny’s tragic death while delivering Granite in 1998, The Kenimer Family worked hard to continue building the business that their Father started. In the early 2000’s, Tecstone added a second and larger warehouse facility and acquired sandblasting services for our ever increasing customer base.
As the business grows, fresh investors and management are in place to ever expand the business across the entire United States…but never forgetting the heritage of Lanny Kenimer and the desire to give customers excellent personal service.
